"He was like a beam of sun which gave warmth and hope, but the war took him away from us"
“We could always rely on Yura, near him I felt a real woman. Always attentive, caring and willing to do anything for me and our daughter”, Maryna wistfully remembers her husband Yuri Sichkar, a Ukrainian soldier of the 30th detached mechanized brigade.
According to his wife, the family - his wife and daughter were the greatest happiness for Yuri Sichkar. He always tried to work to provide them with all necessary and when he had free time he spent it with his child. Maryna recalls that they loved to walk in the fresh air, and to watch football. "Some people say that football is for women, but not in case of our Victoria. Dad taught her to play football and watch football tournaments, and she loves it. And also she loves to sing songs about Ukraine".
After a short training, Yuri Sichkar served in the Russia-Ukraine war zone in the 30th detached mechanized brigade. Daily he phoned home, but he told almost nothing not to warry his wife and daughter. Yuri was allowed to visit home on his birthday. It was his last meeting with family... "For that party he invited almost everyone he knew. He did everything as if it was for the last time, said goodbye, made requests and gave instructions... When we were at the station near the train, Yuri once again hugged me, and then my heart somehow jumped, but I convinced myself that everything would be fine", says Maryna Sichkar. But the fate decreed otherwise.
Yuri Sichkar died September 13, 2015 in the settlement of Luhanske, Donetsk region during the battle of sabotage and reconnaissance group of enemies. Now Victoria and Maryna Sichkar live with Yuri’s mother and his family.
