FAMILY

"I cannot believe that Oleh is gone, we miss him so much..."

"Miss his smile, so delicate and a little childish. Hi has always been like a big child, smiling and sincere, but he had his nature and best male traits", these are the first words wife Tatiana said about her deceased husband, Russian-Ukrainian war veteran, Ukraine Army soldier of the 12th battalion of territorial defence “Kyiv” "Oleh Voitenko.

Since the early days of the Revolution of Dignity, Oleh Voitenko took a decision to be on the Maidan side-by-side with his nation. He did not want our country become the property of one presidential family. According to his wife, he fought for justice and freedom of speech. And with the beginning of Russian aggression in Donbas, he waited for the summons to go to the East of Ukraine. "I, of course, was very worried. But Oleh always calmed me and assured that all was well and it was his duty - to go to war to defend the country from Russia-supported terrorists so that the war did not come to our house", says the wife of Ukrainian soldier.

Oleh Voitenko never came home on the leave from the war zone. He always missed his turn, because he believed that some needed it more than him, to visit relatives. "Now someone’s wife was giving a birth, then someone’s relatives fell ill. I thought that he would come later – but he did not come alive. When he phoned or texted me he always said that all was well. Never complained, said that would come home with victory and with Ukrainian flag. But it turned out another way. And all the time, while Oleh was in the war, disturbing thoughts never left me. I often dreamed terrible dreams..." with tears in her eyes says the wife of the fallen Ukrainian Army soldier.

Oleh Voitenko died at the checkpoint on combat duty in Luhansk, a result of mortar attack on Ukrainian positions from the Russia-supported separatists. By the Ukraine President Decree number 144/2015 of 14 March 2015 "for personal courage and professionalism found in the defence of national sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine", Oleh Voitenko was awarded the Order "For courage» III degree (posthumously).

The state has paid compensation to the family of the deceased Russian-Ukrainian war participant. Today, Tetiana Voitenko with her daughter Diana live in the housing purchased for these funds, but the place needs repairs. Diana is suffering the loss of her father. In her heart there is a wound that is unlikely to heal. They with her mother are still waiting that Oleh comes home and everything will be as before: calm, warm and cosy. Let us not leave the family of the deceased Ukrainian Army solder Oleh Voitenko without attention.
